A brief statement  Flotilla Commander.

Commanders Report

Canyon Flotilla 11-04 goal this year was to recruit as many new members as possible, and to train them to become a crew member and to help with the Administrative Procedures Exam in order to hold an elected office.

Our year started with the swearing in our FC / VFC and the Staff Officers for year 2008.

In February, our Boat Show was a great P.R boost for us, lots of boaters to talk to, about our Boat Safety Classes and CME inspections.

In March, our Boat Safety Class was held and (11) people attended the class.

April was our Sheriff Training at Lucky Peak Reservoir and it was a great success. We had a real casualty with one of our boat crew falling in the 38 degree water and with the quick response of our crew and the Sheriff Marine Deputies our crew member was out of water on Sheriff Boat and headed for shore less than a minute. Thanks to the well training and the wearing of our Foul weather gear no one was hurt, just cold and wet.

May, our Boat Safety week was a great success. Lots of CME and properly wearing of life jackets was done. Mary Corning had a safety class and tour of two Auxiliary Vessels for her Endeavor School Children. Also a Safety Boating Class was held by Charlie & Peggy Caddy at the West Junior High School.

On June 21st around 18:00 some of our members assisted Marine Deputies at Lake Lowell in recovering (Four) sunken boats due to a unexpected storm that came thru.

July also was a busy month for some of our members. At the Three Island Crossing two of our members assisted the Marine Sheriff Deputies in trying to save a horse but was unable to do so but the rider was OK

August, four of our members had the opportunity to be a part of C.A.S.T. held at black canyon reservoir Emmett, ID. Was a pleasure to see those kids enjoy them selves.

Our P.R at the Fred Myers Fair went well had a good turn out.

September we had our Member training meeting, camp out and BBQ at C J Strike it was a beautiful week end .The training and turn out was great and every one enjoyed themselves.

This year our members have been very active. Totals for Year 2008 are.

CME :( 90) DMV or PV (14) MT (155hrs) OP (436hrs).

We have added (6) new members and a new PWC and Operator to our Flotilla this year which brings us to a membership Total of (42) with one finishing paper work, and three more considering.

As you can see our Flotilla 11-04 has been working hard this year and I thank all of you for well done job.

We will close out our year with the Nominating of FC and VFC for 2009! Our November Dinner meeting and Our Christmas Party.
